This 12 inch single is amazing. It has a beautiful, trancelike quality which contains the Directions sound quite well. I would love to own it, but it's out of print. Anyone want to sell it to me? Email me at djnardone@hotmail.com

i heard the song echoes while in southern california over winter vacation. when i purchased the sea and cake "two gentlemen" ep, i found it in the
thrill jockey catalog and they mentioned that it would probably be the only time they had it. sure enough, i ordered it right away and they had no
more. just this past sunday, i was at ameoba records in berkeley and i thought i'd check for it and i got lucky. it was the only copy, as far as i
know, unless they had more in overstock. i think they just didn't know that it was out of print and it was only 7.98.

THE best 12" of 97! I have included "Echos" on practically every tape I've made this year since buying it in May. Brilliant laid-back jazzy collage, with loads of weirdness on the flip side. I haven't been this blown away by one side-long track since Tortoise's "Gamera"

you know, i'm not sure if this is "directions in music", or just "directions", as nowhere does it actually say "in music". The cover just says: "Directions: echoes" and same for the label on the record. AND, in the 'respects', it starts off with "doug and james", the two other members of "directions in music". So maybe this is just Bundy Brown doing a solo thing and calling himself "Directions"???
But what matters here is the music!
This is some great great music.
It reminds me of some mid-70's space-jazz, groove-jazz sounds with a 90's Mo'Wax sort of beat to it.
Kinda like Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders all mixed together by Mo'Wax or Ninja Tune.
All analog, pure beauty.
